PADV in the News Hearts with Hope Gala Northside Neighbor The "Hearts with Hope" benefit supporting Partnership Against Domestic Violence has a powerhouse couple as co-chairs for 2010, Susie Trotochaud and Scott Dorfman. Set for Feb. 20 at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead, the signature black-tie optional gala includes a cocktail hour, silent auction and dinner followed by a live auction and entertainment. Involved with the partnership since 1997 as board members and financial contributors, the dedicated couple said, "We could not believe how many women were affected by domestic violence. One in four women will experience domestic violence in Georgia - there were 68 domestic violence deaths in Georgia in 2009. PADV transforms lives of survivors and their children in metro Atlanta." Northsiders leading the host committee are Chris Hagler, Joy Jarret-Shealy, Michele Johnson, Rena Kilgannon and Sara O'Brien. For more than 30 years, PADV, the largest domestic violence agency in Georgia, has provided professional support, safe shelter and empowering advocacy to battered women and their families in metro Atlanta. The nonprofit looks to this annual fundraising effort to help operate shelters in Fulton and Gwinnett Counties and a 24-hour crisis line. |
